Karl Schulpig Collection
Until well into the 1910s, companies used either no trademarks at all or detailed pictorial symbols in the tradition of ornamented family crests. Karl Schulpig was one of the leading innovators in this area, creating some of the first modern trademarks. With designs for a variety of clients that featured only a few graphic elements to enable rapid and easy recognition of the company, he decisively contributed to the advent of the modern logotype.
